These tunes and over the top soundtracks instantly transport you back to the big screen moments that made us beam with excitement, triumphantly throw our hands in the air, or sob uncontrollably. The best film soundtracks of all time have motivated us cinemagoers to listen to such tunes immediately after the credits roll and the curtains shut. A film soundtrack’s impact is undeniable, whether it’s a tear-jerking ballad or a whole swath of finger-snapping, foot-stomping sing-alongs. In honor of the films released last year, we’ve compiled a primer on five of the top cinema soundtracks of 2022. (so far).
The original music for the Disney film “Cruella,” which stars Emma Stone, was created by Nicholas Britell. It is led by Florence and the Machine’s song “Call Me Cruella,” but there are also a number of oldies on the soundtrack, such as the Bee Gees’ “Whisper, Whisper,” The Doors’ “Five to One,” Nina Simone’s “Whisper, Whisper,” and The Doors’ “Feeling Good.” If you haven’t seen “Cruella,” you can watch it right now on Disney+ at no extra cost.
Judas And the Black Messiah
The film’s music, “Judas and the Black Messiah,” creates an evocative auditory depiction that perfectly complements the film. Featuring the Academy Award-winning song “Fight for You,” sung by H.E.R., the film’s music was created by Mark Isham and Craig Harris and is available on iTunes. In addition to the original soundtrack, you’ll want to check out “Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album,” which includes songs by Jay-Z and Nipsey Hussle and other artists like Nas, and G Herbo, BJ the Chicago Kid, Dom Kennedy, and others.
James Bond: No Time to Die
Whatever you think of the films, we can always depend on James Bond flicks to deliver when it comes to the musical score. Hans Zimmer created the music for “No Time to Die,” the 25th entry in the James Bond film series, which was released in November. The album’s title track, co-written with Billie Eilish’s brother and longtime collaborator, Finneas O’Connell, highlights the album’s soundtrack. Johnny Marr, who is also the main guitarist on the record, collaborates with Zimmer on the soundtrack, including additional music by Steve Mazzaro.
The mood-altering movie soundtrack “Spirit Untamed” is the type of thing that the entire family can appreciate. Especially when you need a pick-me-up. Although “Coming 2 America” received mixed reviews, the film’s soundtrack has a number of music that are worth listening to. Artists such as Meghan Thee Stallion, Teyana Taylor, Public Enemy, Gladys Knight, Tiwa Savage, Y.G., Big Sean, John Legend, Nile Rogers, and Burna Boy are among those who appear on the 12 songs and also happen to be in the movie.
